What this is
Harvenel runs one Moskvich 5 out of Salford. The car is a compact five-door crossover: 1.5-litre turbo petrol, CVT automatic, front-wheel drive, five seats, roughly 4.5 metres long. Underneath the badge it is a JAC Sehol X6, built in volume, which is why it behaves like a perfectly ordinary modern car.
We are not going to build a page around how exciting this is, because it is not. It is a well-made, undramatic vehicle that does a specific job competently. For a week of driving around Greater Manchester that is the correct set of properties, and pretending otherwise would only set you up for disappointment.

Once it is yours the car travels anywhere in mainland Great Britain within your mileage allowance. Ferries and travel outside GB need written permission arranged beforehand.

- Yes, in a specific and limited sense. It is comfortable, easy and competent, and it is not interesting. Our verdict page sets out both halves of that properly.
- Is it automatic?
- Yes, a CVT. No clutch pedal, no manual version of this model.
- What is the catch with the low price?
- There isn't one on the hire. On the car itself, the honest catch is resale uncertainty and a thinner network of garages who have seen one — neither of which affects you for a week.
- Can I hire it for one day?
- Yes, £50 including delivery and 150 miles.
- How is it in a multi-storey?
- Fine. 1.70m tall clears the usual barriers and 1.85m wide fits ordinary bays without a struggle.
- Will it make me want one?
